The 2025 Voices of Lincoln Poetry Contest is well underway, entering its third month as the July 16 submission deadline approaches.
This year’s theme, “Believe in the Power of Words Brought to Life Through Poetry,” invites writers to explore the transformative potential of poetic expression. The contest features five newly introduced categories: Wishes Do Come True, Open Your Mind to Change, Rise to Life’s Challenges, Do a Good Deed, and Smile Every Day.
Participants may submit up to three original poems, with a maximum of one entry per selected category. Entrants are not required to be Lincoln residents, and there is no entry fee.
Young poets aged 18 and under are especially encouraged to participate. Their work will be judged separately in a dedicated “Young Poets” category.
The contest is organized by the Poets Club of Lincoln. Winners will receive a commemorative chapbook featuring the winning poems.
